NB: Please note this has tutorial utilizes ObjectBar 1.6 and has been tested using Windows XP - I'm not sure if this will work using OB2

Please ensure that you have the latest version of Landvermesser's excellent MacSearch application installed. You can obtain it from here (link)

After you have installed the application, please download the Spotlight.vbs file from here (link) - Unzip into a folder of your choice

Please run your MacSearch application - this will bring up the blue Spotlight search bar field. Right click on the search bar and open the preferences.

Set the search bar margins to 22px from the top and 10px in from the right of your screen (this is faithful to OS X Leopard). Set your keyboard shortcut to F7.

Note: The Spotlight.vbs file is configured to use your F7 key. If you want to change the key, edit the vbs file using Microsoft Word.

Remember to change the above menu keyboard shortcut key to your new key

NB. BEFORE starting, please check that the vbs file works on your system (by pressing your F7 key) before starting this mod.

Backup your ObjectBar theme before modifying the file.

From the folder containing your vbs file, DRAG the application into the extreme right-hand corner of your ObjectBar theme - the vbs icon is displayed.

RIGHT-CLICK the vbs icon in the ObjectBar app and open the Theme Editor window. Under the "Spotlight" tag, you will notice that your new vbs shortcut

has been added under the already installed Spotlight shortcut.

RIGHT CLICK on the Spotlight shortcut (NOT the Spotlight.vbs one) and remove the older entry (see above)

1) You will note that only the vbs file is now entered and the original Spotlight icon is now missing from your ObjectBar theme.

2) To re-insert the icon, set the "Display this item" to: Bitmap

3) Double-click the word "Default" and this will open your theme directory

Open your theme "skins" folder and select the SpotlightNormal.bmp

You will notice that the icon is now displayed on the ObjectBar (see above).

Repeat the above step for each entry, but this time for "Mouseover" and "Selected" please choose the SpotlightSelect.bmp file instead

Save your ObjectBar theme in the Theme Editor and close the window. Move your mouse over the Spotlight icon and click to open the MacSearch field.
